The majority of class time will be devoted to the practice of specific 3D techniques and technical skill sets as you create your own work. There will be daily lessons on particular techniques relevant to the class level. Oher classes will be divided between viewing of inspirational work and group critiques.

Animation is multidisciplnary and please feel free to suggest animations, music, books, etc. that you think may be of interest to your class colleagues.

To produce quality 3D and 2D animation art works driven by well researched ideas and conceptual thinking.

To develop clear plans and storyboards of the works you will produce.

To understand the principles of traditional and experimental 3D computer animation while exploreng new possibilities for the form.

To have exposure to new artists and filmakers pushing the edges of the 3D animation.

Course Book:

Cinema 4D: The Artist's Project Sourcebook, Second Edition (Paperback)
by Anne Powers Amazon.com has it. $31.21

I believe in the power of the "Manual". This class will take full advantage of the tutorials PDF that comes with Cinema 4D11.

Additional workgroups will be assembled to bring relevant research back to the class.

Requirements:

Sketch / Note Book
You are required to develop a book that organizes and archives all of the various techniques learned in class. This book will also serve as a place to develop your sketches and storyboards for all three projects. This book will be reviewed throughout the quarter and graded accordingly. Please bring the book to class each day so that you can keep an accurate record of everything learned.

Attendance / Participation
Regular and on time class attendance and participation, including contribution to critiques and discussion, is mandatory and will also be part of the final grade. Missing any of these classes in 3D animation is a really bad choice. If you miss one day you have just missed half a weeks worth of class time.

***More than two absences will reduce your final grade by one letter grade for each additional missed class.
